DESCRIPTION

The versatility of the MAP pack-off system is working for you in the Quickset-D Production Packer. This permanent, drillable production packer assists in the economical operation of a variety of completion and production jobs. Quickset-D Packer is designed to accommodate seal-bore extensions, used in deep wells requiring a longer seal-bore interval. Seal Nipples for the Quickset-D Packer are available with type C Anchor, Snap Latch or Locator Seal Assemblies (see Accessories). This packer can be used as test tool. Full opening bores allow thru passage of perforating guns used to perforate a zone below for testing. If the zone proves to be non-productive, the packer can be used as a squeeze tool, or converted to a temporary bridge plug by installing a companion Equalatch-Plug.

The Quickset-D Packer is designed to provide high-impact resistance and a dependable seal. One piece packing element and metal back up rings are combine for a superior seal. The backup rings establish, durable, metal-to-metal contact with the casing, as the packer is set, preventing extrusion of the rubber even at high pressures and temperatures.

An internal ratchet lock-ring maintains the dynamic sealing force induced into the packer during setting. It locks the entire mechanics of the Packer in a positive, tightly-sealed position, assuring long term performance unsurpassed by any other packer in the field.

When running the Quickset-D Packer, the one-piece design of the slips virtually eliminates the possibility of premature packer setting by rough handling or contact with well debris in the casing. These slips are case-hardened, biting into the hardest of casing when set.

A threaded pin-down connection is furnished on all Quickset-D Packers. This connection permits easy installation of Screw-Out or Nok-Out Plugs, used to convert the packer into a temporary plug. Seal Nipples, Junk Pushers, Flapper Valves, Tail Pipe Adapters and other accessories can be used.

OPERATIONS

Wireline Set - Quickset-D can be set with Baker 20# Wireline Setting Tool while using Wireline Adapter Kit. Install the wireline adapter kit in the packer. The packer and adapter kit are then connected to the setting tool. These are run to setting depth on the electric wireline. A small charge of electrical current, transmitted through the electric wireline, ignites the power charge in the setting tool, gradually building up gas pressure. This pressure provides the controlled force necessary to set the packer. When the prescribed setting force has been applied to the packer, the shear pins which connect the top sub of the packer and the inner adapter of the wireline adapter kit will be broke thus freeing the setting tool from the packer, allowing it to then be retrieved.

Hydraulic Set - Quickset-D can also be set on tubing or drill pipe using Baker 20# Hydraulic Setting Tool and the same Wireline Adapter Kit. It is particularly useful for setting permanent packers in high-angle, deviated wells such as those drilled offshore. The packer is run to setting depth on the tubing string and a ball is dropped to the ball seat in the setting tool. Sufficient tubing pressure is then applied to set and pack-off the packer. The pressure, or combined pressure and tubing tension, then shears the shear pins which connect the top sub of the packer and the inner adapter of the wireline adapter kit. It frees the setting tool from the packer for retrieval.

ACCESSORIES

Seal Assembly - Available with Anchor type and Locator type. Anchor Seal Assembly is used where floating seals are not required. This assembly allows the tubing string to be in tension or compression. Upon set down the anchor latches into the packer and can be removed with eight to ten right-hand turns. Locator Seal Assembly is used in installations where floating seals are required. Once landed the seal locator prevents downward movement of the tubing while allowing the seal to move with tubing contraction. Both of two types have Half Mule Shoe Guide as standard which allows for easy entry into the packer bore. 2 7/8"NU 10Rd Tubing Adapter Shoe is also available.

Packings - Two different types of packing can be used on both Anchor type and Locator type seal assemblies: Chevron Seal or Molded Seal.

Standard Chevron Seals are composed of ten Nitrile Chevron seals, two sets of five pointing away from each other, backed up by metal separators. They are used for non-H2S environments not exceeding 350 Deg F with 10,000-psi differential. Not recommended for low temperature, less than 120 Deg F gas applications. Should not be allowed to leave seal bore in service.

Premium Chevron Seals are composed of eight each Teflon and Viton Chevron seals, two sets of four pointing away from each other, backed up by metal separators. The Viton does the sealing while the Teflon acts as a back-up. Used for non-H2S environments not exceeding 425 Deg F with 10,000-psi differential. Should not be allowed to leave seal bore in service.

Molded Seals are available in either Standard (Nitrile) or Supreme (Viton). Two Nitrile or Viton Seals are bonded to each metal insert and separated by metal spacers. Three Molded Seals assemblies with two metal spacers required per packing. Used where seal movement out of the seal bore cannot be prevented. Standard seals are serviceable in non-H2S environments of less than 350 Deg F. Viton is used for H2S service and in all well fluids except amine based inhibitors up to 250 Deg F.

Seal Bore Extension (080-5803-078) - Seal Bore Extensions provide extra long seal bores for Quickset-D Packers. The extensions are used in installations where floating seals are required due to tubing contractions. They contain the same bore size as the packer itself. When using Seal Bore Extensions, the lower end of the Quickset-D packer needs to be changed to SBE Guide (080-5803-047). Several extensions may be used with Concentric Couplings between them.

Tubing Guide (080-5803-046) - Allows tubing pipes to be run below packer as needed.

SBE Guide (080-5803-047) - Used to connect Seal Bore Extension to Quickset-D packer.

MOE Guide (080-5803-048) - Used to connect Mill-Out Extension to Quickset-D packer.

Concentric Coupling (080-5803-097) - Used to connect Seal Bore Extensions to increase length.

Knock Out Plug (080-5803-135) - When run below the packer, the Knock Out Plug allows Quickset-D packer to serve as a temporary bridge plug holding pressure from above and below. The plug is knocked out when applying tubing weight on it. It is used with Blank Guide (080-5803-045).
